With the advent of December breeze, the whole nation is diverted towards carols and Santa gifts. While this is on the softer side of enjoyment, Santacon drives the enjoyment and fun to a greater height. Santacon, not alone in the core places of United States does the magic but also does it all over the world in vibrant colors. The local societies have showcased santacons in the main parts of America like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Detroit etc. By the year of 2003, the idea of santacon has got propagated to almost 30 cities in 3 to 4 countries.
By the start of 2005, the events were out of the control. More and more of crimes and riots dominated the crowd and fights started all over. This sort of a nationwide behavior has been reported to the website and there has been a lot of control over the happenings and events that succeeded after the 2003 Santacon. Soon after the recovery of fun and enjoyment in the following years, there was a controlled and well organized enjoyment that followed. Lot of innovative and creative events was then organized to enthrall the gathering.
There was hell a lot of involvement and participation from the people of United States in the mass gathering. No one does any work after that start of the seasonal enjoyment. Children were so very excited with the suspense of gift they would get. This culture of gifting people was soon followed not only by the neighboring countries, but also by the west and the Middle East.

Santacon, the gathering to entertain, enjoy and enthrall, starts by the mid of December every year. With the countdown of days to Christmas, people open up their enthusiastic mind forgetting all their works and jobs. Not alone is the fun being enjoyed in the America. The European cities soon started showing as lot of interest in the santacons at the end of each year.
The santacons is been happening in London every year from 2001. Very quickly, it attracted more than thousand Santas by the year 2007. After the bad events by 2005, it has been strictly organized and well controlled. With no interference of politics and riots, it is been accepted by everyone and there is a very healthy participation all over the country. The santacon in London is popularly called as “santhathon”, is a bit different from the santacons in America. However, the rules of conduct and the ethics are all common and more strictly followed in the European countries, especially in London.
One of the most strictly followed rules is that only those who wear the full Santa suit will be allowed to enter the santacon. With the basic name being santacon, it is also popularly known as naughty Santas, santarchy, Santa rampage, santapalooza etc in United States itself. The season of Christmas marks the most enjoyable month of the year for Americans. While that was the case some years back, the enjoyment and fun has attracted all the countries and drawn active participation from nook and corner of the world.

Santacon is a random and mass gathering of individuals dressed up in different attires of Santa Claus and have fun through pranks, fringe explorations, subversion and meaningful madness. They do public performance in bars and on streets of the cities. It was first staged in 1994 in San Francisco, and from then on has spawned to different parts of the world. The main focus of Santacon is on creativity, spontaneity and improving human interaction with fellow beings while having a great and joyful time and spreading goodwill and cheer to all those whom they come across.
In the US Santacon is sometimes referred to as Santa Rampage, Naughty Santas, Santarchy, Cheapsuit Santas, Santapalooza and the Red Menace. Santacon events are usually cheerfully bawdy and are noted for harmless behavior. All the people gathered in the event sing some naughty Christmas Carols and give free hugs and small gifts to the random strangers. In Japan, the Santacon has become a more of a society welfare program where there is a lot of “doing good” principle. These activities include Santa litter-picking outings through which they contribute to the community. People share different views on this event. A section of the participants deem Santacon to be the modern revival of the ancient feast Saturnalia. While the other section of the mob see the Santacon as the precursor of Flash mob. For the rest, it is all about spreading happiness and the spirit of Christmas to others in the form of generosity, fun, love and celebration with fellow beings.

Santa is Saint Nicholas but with hundreds of them, Nicholas turns to the Old Nick. On one such Santacon, the mob passes the streets as a red tide with much cheer and gaiety. As the time goes by, the crowd becomes more unruly and noisy. Word spreads that a pistol that had been retrieved from the road side by one of the Santas, is in possession of it. Soon the Santas were surrounded by patrol cars and a paddy wagon. The new and those who were quiet notorious quickly disappeared in the dark. With the corps putting on their riot gear and summoning for more paddy wagons, a senior Santa moved to them and initiated a parley with the Commander. Soon the chief cop cancelled the paddy wagons. The chief cop managed the higher officials by pronouncing it as a big party, a bit out of control. The Santas then boarded a town bus to the other side of the town to crash in at the Palace of the Legion of Honor for a Christmas bash.

A veteran artist tried to remove the mounting pressure by cracking a joke, but of no response. It was sure that most of them had made up their minds to get out of the mess. A few of them who participated in the SantaCon managed to remove their costumes and get off the bus. Finally as the bus came to a halt, all the Santas were lined up. The two who were considered responsible were handcuffed and the rest were released.

Santacon, a very popular mass gathering of people to enjoy the moments of Christmas was actually originated by the year 1994 in America. There are also a lot of rules being followed if one wants to participate in the santacon. More than in America, European countries have more strict rules to follow. One of the vital rules involves no violence and the dress code. Only people who wear full Santa suit would be allowed for the Santacon.
